A total of 1,600 shares worth $10,173 traded on The Royal Gazette/BSX Index.

Insurance firm BF&M was up 33 cents (2 per cent) at $17.19 after 200 shares changed hands.

And utilities group Ascendant was also up, by five cents (1 per cent), at $4.85 after 1,400 shares sold.

The Royal Gazette/BSX closed down 2.95 points (0.23 per cent) at 1,296.17.

The BSX Insurance Index ended the day up 7.52 points (0.46 per cent) at 1,648.42.
