Miss Bermuda Alyssa Rose took to the stage as a finalist in the Miss World Talent Championship in China, but fell just short of the top five.

Competing against more than 100 other women, Ms Rose’s modern tap-dancing routine placed her in the top 13 of the talent round, which was won by Lisa Punch of Guyana.

The list of top-five entrants was rounded out by the representatives from Malaysia, Jamaica, Paraguay and Samoa.

Speaking after the competition, Ms Rose told a reporter: “I choreographed the dance myself with my choreographer, who I have performed with since I was 3. I have been trained in all dance genres, but tap is what I love. It allows me to express happiness, sadness and every emotion in between.”

Ms Rose earlier earned a spot in the top 25 of the fitness competition.

Events are scheduled to continue this week, with the final event on Saturday morning.

The event is set to air at 8am Bermuda time on CableVision channel 55 and on WOW channel 141.
