Training planned for trash truck mechanics

Mechanical failures: trash trucks (File photograph)

Three mechanics from the Ministry of Public Works are to be sent overseas for training from the manufacturers of the Island’s trash truck fleet.

Trash collection has been hampered by a high rate of mechanical failures in recent months, according to the minister, Craig Cannonier.

He was responding to parliamentary questions from Dennis Lister, the Shadow Minister of Public Works. The four-day training sessions are scheduled for February.

The course will cover “diagnosis and repair of the Isuzu refuse vehicles, with specific training on the engine, transmission, braking and exhaust gas recirculation systems,” he said.
