A new golf store has teed off in Hamilton.

And IslandKaddy aims to inject a touch of style to the sport, with a range of stylish men’s and women’s golf clothing and accessories.

Owned by keen golfers Ian and Anne Marie Forbes, the store features top brands like J Lineberg, Powakaddy electric golf trolleys, Greg Norman and GolfBuddy.

The couple started an online business earlier this year, but decided to expand into a bricks and mortar presence at 129 Front Street in Hamilton.

Ms Forbes said: “My husband started bringing in golf trolleys.

“As we picked up a number of great products, in order to keep our shipping costs down, we had to bring in quite a few of everything.

“This is a way to showcase our stock and we also needed somewhere for people to come and collect their goods from — people can still order online.”

Mr Forbes is a golfing enthusiast and a member at Port Royal Golf Course. He also built the golfbda.com.

Ms Forbes writes the Blog 30 to Scratch and plays golf nearly every day.

She is also a member at Port Royal Golf Course and the golf events director for the Executive Women’s Golf Association (EWGA) Bermuda.

Ms Forbes said: “We’re introducing the concept of golfing dresses into Bermuda and they’re super comfortable.

“They are offered in limited supply on the Island, but we offer a full range with sizes from extra small to XXL.

“The ladies’ market is not necessarily being well catered for at the moment, but we have ladies’ golfing accessories and bags.

“Ian is very techie, so we have a lot of electronic gadgets like GolfBuddy and GPS. And Nike clothing is on its way.”

Ms Forbes added that there was definitely a niche in the market for the new store.

She said: “There are a lot of golfers in Bermuda and women’s golf is becoming more and more popular.

“And with the America’s Cup coming, we will see a lot of golf tourism as well, hopefully.”
