Ace names Chubb Asia-Pacific team

ZURICH (AM Best News Service) — With the acquisition of Chubb Group expected to be completed during the first quarter of 2016, Ace Group has appointed 12 executives to make up the future commercial property/casualty leadership team for the new Chubb Group in Asia-Pacific.

Members will report to Paul McNamee, newly appointed deputy regional president and regional head of property/casualty, Asia-Pacific.

“These individuals represent some of the strongest talent that the region has to offer with underwriting depth and market presence across a broad range of products and services,” Mr McNamee said in a statement.

Included on the team are Roy Amos, head of surety; Kane Bennett, head of environmental liability; Ben Carey, head of broker distribution and client management, Asia; and Adam Clifford, head of casualty who will be responsible for all general and products liability, workers’ compensation and employers liability and energy casualty businesses.

In addition, Greg Dodds was named head of strategic alliances and carrier partner distribution, Asia-Pacific; Cassandra Ho was appointed head of ceded reinsurance; and Michael Frazer was made head of energy and technical lines and responsible for all upstream and downstream energy, power generation, construction and inland marine business.

Ace also appointed Jason Keen head of property with responsibility for all general property and terrorism business; Neil Moon chief underwriting officer, property/casualty, Asia-Pacific, including delegated authority management, analytics, portfolio management and property/casualty underwriting operations; Anthony O’Brien head of marine including all cargo, hull and marine liability business; and Kevin Stevens head of custom products including specialty life sciences, technology, entertainment and clean tech products.

Stanley Wong was made head of professional lines, having overall responsibility for all professional lines. Jason Howard, chief underwriting officer for professional lines, will report to Wong. Howard’s primary responsibility will be managing Chubb’s extensive directors and officers and financial institutions portfolio.

Ace announced Mr McNamee’s appointment in November, saying he will report to Juan Luis Ortega, senior vice-president of the new Chubb Group and regional president for Asia-Pacific. Asia-Pacific operations include Australia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Korea, Macao, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.

At the time, Ace also named Jeff Hager regional president of the Far East region and Jorge Luis Cazar senior vice-president of the new Chubb Group and regional president for Latin America.

Ace’s $28.3 billion acquisition of Chubb was approved on October 22 by shareholders of both companies during separate extraordinary meetings.

On the day of the vote, Ace chairman and chief executive officer Evan Greenberg called Chubb a “venerable company with a great brand”.
