BSX has quiet start to year

BSX: only BF&M shares changed price last week

The Bermuda Stock Exchange’s quiet first trading week of the year had none of the drama seen in New York and Shanghai.

Three domestic companies traded. The busiest trading was in shares of BF&M, which fell eight cents, or 0.5 per cent, to $16.77 as 8,542 of its shares changed hands.

Butterfield Bank remained on $1.95 as 2,500 shares traded through the week.

Ascendant Group was also unchanged on $4.80 as 300 of the utility’s shares changed hands.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index closed down 0.6 of a point for the week on 1,303.46. Trading volume topped 15,000 shares while turnover was just shy of $180,000.
