Pearman breezes to Bacardi triumph

No contest: Pearman was without equal at Turtle Hill (File photograph by Akil Simmons)

Dwayne Pearman Sr breezed to the Bacardi National Par 3 Championship title at Turtle Hill Golf Club yesterday.

The Port Royal Golf Course professional shot a one-under-par 53 to finish two under for the weekend, some ten shots clear of the field.

Brian Morris and Scott Roy tied for second at eight under, with Anthony Mocklow, last year’s winner, a shot further back.

Pearman was the only player with a round under par, and the closest other finishers were Jevon Roberts and Spencer Wideman who finished tied for first in the amateur division at four over.

Roberts won on retrogression, and, like Pearman, has earned himself a spot in the Grey Goose World Par 3 Championship at Turtle Hill in March.

Joining them will be Craig Christensen, whose 17 over was enough to give him a five shot win in the senior division, and Ebonie Burgess, who successfully defended her women’s title, finishing five strokes ahead of Tracy Nash on 12 over.

n Meandmygolf.com professionals Andy Proudman and Piers Ward are holding a question-and-answer session tonight at Flanagan’s Irish Pub and Restaurant in Hamilton.

The pair, whose instructional videos on YouTube are seen by millions of golfers worldwide, are on the Island shooting a series of films for their website and YouTube channel.

Tonight’s event will start at 6pm, with happy hour drink prices and 10 per cent off food orders.
