Dear Sir,

I believe this is a question most taxpayers are asking themselves: “What is financial assistance doing?”

We have some people that are living off financial assistance. They drive round all day doing nothing. They dress in expensive shoes and clothes. They are posting pictures on Facebook, Instagram and every other social media network out there about their new hairdo and their nails that just got done.

But financial assistance allows this to keep going on. They must see all this when the abusers go in for their assessment.

We also have these ones that are working and getting paid undercover, so financial assistance never sees that money going in their accounts. Better yet, we have these ones that go away, go on cruises and they don’t work and are on financial assistance for everything, yet the Government complains about money.

We as Bermudians that see all this going on need to report it because the people that really need the assistance don’t get it for this reason. So for all of you that are abusing financial assistance, I hope when you’re caught they make you pay back every last cent they ever gave you.
