New-York based Everest Re executive Sanjoy Mukherjee is to become the new managing director and chief executive officer of the company’s Bermuda operation.

Mr Mukherjee, executive vice-president, secretary and general counsel for Everest Re, will replace Mark de Saram, who will retire at the start of April.

Everest Re said Mr Mukherjee will continue in his current role but also take on responsibility for Bermuda.

The firm added that Andrew Carrier, the Hamilton-based general manager of European operations, will take over Mr de Saram’s role as manager of London, continental European and Asia-Pacific reinsurance operations.
