PartnerRe Ltd has appointed Chairatch Phrompechrut as head of strategic ventures.

He will report to Marvin Pestcoe, chief executive officer, life, health and strategic ventures.

Mr Phrompechrut joined the company in 2008 and has held several positions, most recently as head of private equity.

In his new role he will lead the PartnerRe’s effort to pursue investments in business development opportunities and partnerships.

Commenting on the appointment, Mr Pestcoe said: “I am very pleased to appoint Chai to head of strategic ventures. I am confident that under Chai’s leadership the strategic ventures group will be successful in giving PartnerRe access to new attractive business opportunities.”
