Man, 24, charged with Southampton murder

Shantoine Prinston Burrows

A 24-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Rickai Swan.

Shantoine Prinston Burrows, of Devonshire, was charged in Magistrates’ Court this morning with murdering Mr Swan and unlawfully wounding Damiko Gibbons with intent to do grievous bodily harm in Southampton on October 23 last year.

Mr Burrows, who is represented by defence lawyer Marc Daniels, is also accused of using a firearm to commit the offences.

He was not required to plead because the charges are indictable and must be heard in Supreme Court.

Mr Burrows was remanded into custody by magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo and the matter was adjourned to March 1.

Mr Swan, 26, was fatally shot when a gunman opened fire outside Southampton Rangers. Mr Gibbons was reportedly shot in the upper torso during the incident, but escaped with injuries that were not life-threatening.
