Cocktails raise funds for scholarship

The Bermuda Foundation for Insurance Studies raised $500 for its scholarship programme after hosting after-work cocktails events in Bermuda and London.

The funds will go towards the BFIS Alumni Scholarship, which will be awarded later this year.

“We had a good turnout and raised another $500 for the scholarship and got lots of interesting ideas for other events,” said Donita Stevens, alumni committee co-chairwoman.

Nicholas Butterfield, a BFIS alumnus working in London, said that after learning about the Bermuda event he thought it would be a great idea to also get the BFIS London Alumni together.

“It was a great turnout, and was really nice to meet some of the other BFIS alumni in London that could attend, and also some friends that are Bermudians working in the industry out here. Overall it was a great networking night, and a fun time.”

The events were held one week apart. The London event was attended by BFIS alumni and other Bermudians working in the city.

The organisation’s next alumni event in Bermuda is a scavenger hunt on February 25.
