Potential jurors were escorted out of the House of Assembly yesterday morning as protesters joined arms to surround the Parliament building.

Meanwhile, Chief Justice Ian Kawaley as well as court staff were not able to gain access to court rooms inside the House of Assembly, causing disruption to legal proceedings.

Two new trials were expected to begin yesterday, while the Court of Appeal was also supposed to be sitting in Court 2, which is next to the Sessions Chamber.

As a result of the industrial action dozens of jurors were moved down the hill to Court 3 on Front Street.

However, as both defendants, who were due to stand trial pleaded guilty, all jurors were sent home soon afterwards.

The Court of Appeal was then moved from the House of Assembly to Court 3 due to the protest outside.
