Argus shares slide 7.5%

Mixed day: Argus and Ascendant shares fell, while Butterfield rose in Bermuda Stock Exchange trading

Shares of Argus Group Holdings Ltd fell 7.5 per cent in Bermuda Stock Exchange trading.

The insurer’s shares slid 30 cents to close on $3.70 as 10,000 shares changed hands.

Butterfield Bank gained 1 cent to close on $1.65 as 50,000 shares traded.

Ascendant Group Ltd, owner of electricity firm Belco, closed 1 cent lower at $4.40 as 4,000 of its shares were exchanged.

LOM Financial Ltd saw strong trading activity, with 18,372 of its shares changing hands, as the price remained unchanged at $2.30.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index closed 1.56 points, or 0.13 per cent lower, at 1,164.36.

Trading volume totalled 82,372 shares, while turnover was $178,883.60.

The BSX Insurance Index closed down 15.27 points, or 0.95 per cent, at 1,596.03.
