KeyTech and BAS trade sharply higher

Edging higher: The Royal Gazette/BSX Index closed within a couple of points of the 2,000 mark last week

KeyTech Group and Bermuda Aviation Services each saw double-digit gains in Bermuda Stock Exchange trading last week.

BAS was the biggest climber, soaring 41.3 per cent on the trading of 53,864 shares. The diversified services company gained 95 cents to close the week on $3.25.

Telecoms firm KeyTech added 35 cents, or 13.2 per cent, close Friday at $3, as 2,097 shares changed hands.

Ascendant Group Ltd, owner of power utility Belco, climbed 10 cents, or 1.9 per cent, to $5.35, as 20,000 shares were exchanged.

BF&M Ltd closed unchanged for the week at $17.10, as 13,900 shares traded. The insurer announced separately in regulatory filing with the BSX that during the month of June, it repurchased 29,460 of its own shares under its share buyback programme.

Butterfield Bank was also unchanged at $1.64. But the bank’s preference shares fell $25, or 2.3 per cent, to $1,050, as ten of the shares traded.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index edged 10.18 points, or 0.84 per cent higher, to close on 1,198.29. More than 104,000 shares traded during the week, with turnover of nearly $559,000.
