Butterfield Bank shares ended the week up 50 cents, or 2.1 per cent, at $24 on The Royal Gazette/BSX Index. A total of 63,238 shares were traded during the week.

On the New York Stock Exchange, Butterfield’s shares closed on Friday at $24.75, up 68 cents on the previous week’s close.

On the local exchange shares of Ascendant Group also rose, up 20 cents, or 3.3 per cent, to close at $6.20 after 16,000 changed hands.

Argus Group shares fell by five cents, or 1.2 per cent, to $4 after 136,500 were traded.

A total of 1,300 shares of Somers Limited were traded during the week, but with no change to the stock’s closing price of $13.75.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index finished 23.42 points higher, or 1.49 per cent, at 1,564.72. The value of shares traded was $2.16 million.

The BSX Insurance Index was up 7.91 points, or 0.48 per cent, at 1,659.29.
