The Bank of Butterfield jumped $1.15 to $28.40 on The Royal Gazette/BSX Index.

The rise, equal to 4.2 per cent, came after 5,551 shares traded.

On the New York Stock Exchange, the bank’s price rose 40 cents, or 1.4 per cent, to $29.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index closed up 51.72 points, or 2.98 per cent, at 1,788.85.

The BSX Insurance Index ended the day down 13.15 points, or 0.77 per cent, at 1,696.89.
