Shares of Ascendant Group improved by 15 cents, or 2.2 per cent, to $6.95, after 650 traded on The Royal Gazette/BSX Index.

However, the Index ended the day 44.53 points, or 2.45 per cent down, at 1.774.38.

Argus Group shares slipped five cents, or 1.1 per cent, to $4.55 after 1,000 were exchanged. Also slipping were shares of Butterfield Bank, which were down $1, or 3.4 per cent, at $28 after 2,590 changed hands. On the New York Stock Exchange the bank’s shares fell 21 cents, or 0.71 per cent, to $29.49.

The BSX Insurance Index was down 2.53 points, or 0.15 per cent, at 1,692.54.
