Argus hits 52-week high

BSX up day: Argus shares hit their highest level in at least a year to lead local stocks higher

Argus Group Holdings Ltd gained 4.2 per cent and climbed to a new 52-week high in Bermuda Stock Exchange trading today.

The insurer climbed 20 cents on the trading of 1,500 shares to close the day on $4.95.

Ascendant Group Ltd, owner of power utility Belco, dropped 2.9 per cent. Its shares closed 20 cents down at $6.75 as 700 shares changed hands.

Butterfield Bank was the most actively traded stock on the BSX, with 2,981 of its shares trading, and the bank closed the day unchanged on $28. Butterfield’s New York Stock Exchange-listed shares rose 30 cents, or 1.04 per cent, to close on $29.03.

Among international companies, 370 shares of HSBC changed hands. The international bank gained 25 cents, or 3.18 per cent to close on $8.10.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index gained 2.07 points, or 0.12 per cent, to close the day on 1,785.45. Share volume totalled 5,551 shares, while turnover was $98,615.

The BSX Insurance Index gained 9.05 points to close on 1,717.2.
