KeyTech shares gain sharply

KeyTech shares added 95 cents in BSX trading

Shares in telecoms firm KeyTech jumped by nearly a half on The Royal Gazette/BSX Index today.

The firm’s shares went up 95 cents, or 47.5 per cent, to $2.95 after 8,000 shares traded.

The Bank of Butterfield also went up — 50 cents, or 1.7 per cent, to $30.50 after 172 shares sold.

On the New York Stock Exchange, the bank’s price went up 50 cents, or 1.6 per cent, to $31.77.

Insurance company BF&M was unchanged at $20 after 1,200 shares were exchanged.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index closed up 35.54 points, or 1.91 per cent, at 1,891.21.

The BSX Insurance Index ended the day up 0.77 points or 0.04 per cent at 1748.37.

The BSX also announced that the Bank of Butterfield had completed the manadatory redemption of its 8 per cent non-cumulative perpetual limited voting preference shares.

Shareholders were issues a redemption payment of $1,180 per preference share on Thursday, made of the most recent dividend per preference share, the net present value of future dividend payments that would have been paid up to June 22, 2019 and the $1,000 liquidation preference on each preference share, discounted for preference value.

The shares have now been cancelled and the bank has requested delisting on the BSX and the Euro MTF market of the Luxembourg Stock Exchange.
