Utilities firm Ascendant rose 40 cents to $7.50 on The Royal Gazette/BSX Index.

The move, equal to 5.6 per cent, came after 2,700 shares traded.

On the New York Stock Exchange, Bank of Butterfield dropped 28 cents, or 0.86 per cent, to $32.11.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index closed up 3.86 points, or 0.20 per cent, at 1,962.51.

The BSX Insurance Index ended the day down 7.31 points, or 0.41 per cent, at 1,767.43.
