Ascendant Group Ltd rose by a double-digit percentage to help The Royal Gazette/BSX Index climb last week.

The owner of power utility Belco gained 75 cents, or 11.1 per cent, to close the week on $7.50 as 2,888 of its shares traded.

Butterfield Bank also had a positive week, adding 70 cents, or 2.2 per cent to close the week on $32.

The index climbed 38.72 points, or 1.97 per cent, to end the week on 1,962.51.

Trading volume for the week was 11,179 shares, while turnover topped $278,000.
