Bank of Butterfield shares were up $1 to $33.50 on The Royal Gazette/BSX Index.

The move, equal to 3.1 per cent, came after 18,003 shares changed hands.

On the New York Stock Exchange, the bank lost 4 cents, or 0.12 per cent, to $33.93.

Insurance company BF&M remained at $20.60 after 10,200 shares sold.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index closed up 44.98 points, or 2.24 per cent, at 2,050.20.

The BSX Insurance Index ended the day down 6.53 points, or 0.35 per cent, at 1,862.13.
