Bank of Butterfield shares gained 25 cents to $32.75 on The Royal Gazette/BSX Index.

The increase, equal to 0.8 per cent, came after 9,030 shares traded.

On the New York Stock Exchange, the bank rose 22 cents, or 0.67 per cent, to $33.02.

On the local exchange Telecommunications firm One Communications fell 10 cents, or 3.8 per cent, to $2.50 after 10,000 shares sold.

Utilities firm Ascendant was unchanged at $7.20 after 3,000 shares changed hands.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index closed up 9.87 points, or 0.50 per cent, at 1,994.37.

The BSX Insurance Index ended the day up 4.76 points, or 0.26 per cent, at 1,864.17.
