Polaris shares climb 5%

Stock gain: shares of Polaris Holding Co rose 5.3 per cent in BSX trading

Shares of the parent company of Hamilton docks operator Stevedoring Services rose more than 5 per cent in Bermuda Stock Exchange trading today.

Polaris Holding Company Ltd closed the day at $5, up 25 cents or 5.3 per cent, as 201 shares changed hands.

Butterfield Bank was the only other stock to advance, climbing 50 cents, or 1.6 per cent, to close on $32.50, as 205 shares traded. The bank’s New York Stock Exchange-listed shares fell 14 cents, or 0.4 per cent, to close on $33.40.

Several stocks traded lightly without their prices moving, including Argus Group Holdings Ltd, BF&M Ltd, Ascendant Group Ltd and One Communications Ltd.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index climbed 22.78 points, or 1.16 per cent, to 1,988.86. The BSX Insurance Index gained 2.77 points, or 0.14 per cent, to close on 1,925.47.

Trading volume totalled 511 shares, while turnover was just shy of $8,760.
