BF&M and One make gains

Last week ended flat for the BSX, despite some heavy trading in major stocks

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index ended the week almost where it started, even as tens of thousands of shares in three major domestic companies changed hands.

Insurer BF&M Ltd was the week’s biggest trader, climbing 40 cents, or 1.9 per cent, to close on $21, as 38,486 shares were traded.

Rival insurer Argus Group Holdings Ltd fell 20 cents, or 4.5 per cent, to close on $4.25 as 29,930 of its shares changed hands.

And One Communications Ltd registered a gain of 4 cents, or 1.9 per cent, as 20,438 shares were traded. The telecommunications group closed on $2.15.

Butterfield Bank also saw trading, remaining unchanged on $33.50 as 7,214 shares were exchanged. The bank’s New York Stock Exchange-listed shares closed the week at $34.10 in New York.

The index closed at 2,021.93, down 0.39 of a point for the week. Trading volume totalled 96,068 shares and turnover was just shy of $1.22 million.
