Butterfield Bank shares fell by $1.49, or 4.4 per cent, to close at $32.51 on The Royal Gazette/BSX Index after 2,000 shares were traded. On the New York Stock Exchange, the bank’s shares edged 11 cents lower, or 0.33 per cent, to $33.40.

On the local exchange shares of One Communications closed nine cents lower, or 4.1 per cent down, at $2.11 after 14,500 changed hands.

Argus Group shares were five cents lower, or down 1.3 per cent, at $3.95 after 10,600 were traded, and Ascendant Group was down 11 cents, or 1.2 per cent, at $8.89 after 2,200 shares were exchanged.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index fell 70.31 points, or 3.44 per cent, to 1,972.56.

The BSX Insurance Index was down 0.38 points, or 0.02 per cent, at 1,906.67.
