Ascendant Group tumbles 7%

Two stocks ended the week lower on The Royal Gazette/BSX Index

Shares of Ascendant Group, the parent company of Belco, finished the week 65 cents lower, or down 7 per cent, at $8.60 after 9,000 were traded on The Royal Gazette/BSX Index last week.

Another faller was BF&M Ltd, which lost 10 cents, or 0.5 per cent, to close at $20.65 after 3,700 shares were exchanged.

However, Butterfield Bank ended the week $1.50 higher, or 4.6 per cent up, at $34 after 13,148 shares traded.

On the New York Stock Exchange, the bank’s shares closed the week at $34.47.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index rose 60.43 points, or 2.95 per cent, to 2,043.22.

The BSX Insurance Index was also higher for the week, up 10.65 points, or 0.58 per cent, at 1,847.57.
