BF&M shares gain 2.1%

Butterfield and BF&M advanced in BSX trading

Shares of BF&M Ltd rose 2.1 per cent in Bermuda Stock Exchange trading.

The insurer gained 35 cents to close on $17.15 as 2,000 shares changed hands.

Butterfield Bank also gained ground, climbing 15 cents, or 0.3 per cent, to close on $51.15 as 25,400 shares traded. The bank’s US-listed shares fell 23 cents, or 0.4 per cent, to close on $51.49 in New York.

The only other stock to trade on the BSX was Ascendant Group Ltd, parent company of power utility Belco. Ascendant remained unchanged on $16.50 as 500 shares traded.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index gained 9.43 points, or 0.33 per cent, to close the day on 2,876.11. For the week, the index gained 0.27 per cent.

Yesterday’s trading volume was 27,900 shares, while turnover was more than $1.34 million.
