Shares of Butterfield Bank were up $1, or 2.9 per cent, at $35.50, after 785 were traded on The Royal Gazette/BSX Index. In New York, the bank’s shares were up 53 cents, or 1.48 per cent, at $36.24.

On the local exchange, shares of Ascendant Group Limited were up 25 cents, or 1.5 per cent, at $17 after 7,717 were exchanged.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index was up 47.39 points, or 2.24 per cent, at 2,161.26. The BSX Insurance Index was down 1.69 points, or 0.11 per cent, at 1,524.62.
