Shares of Butterfield Bank jumped $4.50, or 12.9 per cent, to $39.50 after 1,198 traded on The Royal Gazette/BSX Index.

In New York, the bank’s shares were up $5.08, or 14.1 per cent, at $41.10.

Meanwhile, on the local exchange, Ascendant Group Limited fell $1.50, or 6.8 per cent, to $20.50 after 1,200 were exchanged. There was also trading in 3,700 shares of One Communications Ltd, 2,000 shares of Argus Group Holdings Ltd, and 1,100 shares of BF&M Ltd, but with no change to the respective closing prices.

The Royal Gazette/ BSX Index was up 187.92 points, or 8.56 per cent, at 2,382.35, while the BSX Insurance Index was up 8.22 points, or 0.54 per cent, at 1,525.89.
