Butterfield shares fall 7% on BSX

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index fell 5.3 per cent

Shares of Butterfield Bank plunged 7.1 per cent in Bermuda Stock Exchange trading.

The bank dipped $2.75 to close on $36 on the trading of 1,900 shares.

On the New York Exchange, Butterfield’s US-listed shares fell 82 cents, or 2.2 per cent, to close on $35.96, bringing the two listings into close price alignment.

Butterfield was the only stock to trade on the BSX.

BSX trading volume totalled 1,900 shares and turnover was $68,400.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index fell 123.68 points, or 5.31 per cent, to close on 2,205.48.

Separately, Ascendant Group Ltd revealed in a BSX filing that it repurchased 1,800 of its own shares at an average price of $20 on Wednesday this week.

The BSX Insurance Index gained 13.26 points, or 0.92 per cent, to close on 1,460.87.
