Bacardi adds former whisky firm CEO to board

Stella David: new director on Bacardi's board

International drinks giant Bacardi has appointed a new director.

Stella David was the chief executive officer of Scotch whisky distiller William Grant & Sons, makers of top-selling Glenfiddich single malt, for seven years up until February this year.

Ms David, 53, worked for Bacardi between 1994 and 2009 in a variety of senior roles, including global chief marketing officer.

Facundo Bacardi, chairman of the Bacardi board, said: “Stella brings further expertise in the management and marketing of global spirits brands to the Bacardi board.

“We are thrilled to have her back with us as her nearly 25 years of spirits industry experience with both Bacardi and William Grant will serve us well as we continue to grow and innovate.”

Ms David replaces Georgia Garinois-Melenikiotou, the executive vice-president of corporate marketing at cosmetics firm Estee Lauder, on the 16-strong Bacardi board.

Ms Garinois-Melenikiotou retired after four years on the board.
