A managing director of the US-based global financial services and private equity firm The Carlyle Group has joined the board at Bank of Butterfield.

James Burr, a managing director at The Carlyle Group, has become a non-executive director of the bank.

Mr Burr previously served in the same role on the bank’s board between 2010 to 2012.

Mr Burr, based in Charlotte, North Carolina, joined Carlyle in 2008 and has been involved with the firm’s financial services portfolio, serving on the boards of Edgewood Partners Holdings, LLC, PIB Ltd, Barbon Insurance Group, Hampton Roads Bankshares, and JenCap Insurance Solutions among others.
