A client director from a Bermuda firm is to speak at a major conference on alternative investments to be held in Bermuda for the first time.

Sarah Demerling, client director at Estera, will speak at the three-day World Alternative Investment Summit, which is normally held in Canada, later this month.

Ms Demerling, a specialist in the field, will speak as part of a panel on corporate governance and compliance in offshore funds.

She said: “Bermuda’s reputation as a leading financial centre and its robust alternative investment industry make it a fitting host for the WAIS 2016 event.

“I look forward to discussing some of the most pressing compliance and governance issues facing funds with other seasoned professionals in the industry.”

Ms Demerling will be joined on the panel by Craig Bridgewater, managing director of KPMG Bermuda, Neil Glass of WW Management and Henry Komansky of Oyster Consulting.

WAIS is expected to attract leaders in alternative investment, including senior asset managers, regulators and investors from around the globe.

The conference starts on September 28 and runs to September 30 at the Fairmont Southampton.
