The Centre of Philanthropy has teamed up with QuoVadis and LinkBermuda to meet its information technology needs.

The charity has chosen a cloud-based solution rather than continue to own and operate on-premise computer servers and security systems, digital security and cloud services firm QuoVadis said in a statement.

Elaine Butterfield, executive director of The Centre, said: “The end result is that we now have a high speed and secure IT platform that accommodates our budget with predictable and affordable monthly costs.

“We no longer need to purchase expensive on-site infrastructure and, with QuoVadis, we have a team of experts who can advise us on our future technology needs at no additional cost.

“This is a benefit for The Centre and ultimately for the Bermudian charitable sector we serve.”

Ms Butterfield was faced with challenge of ensuring the charity had a robust system, that kept its data secure and safe from cyber threats, all on a limited budget.

QuoVadis Services will provide The Centre with a state-of-the-art hosting platform wrapped with essential services including cloud computing, managed security, off-site data back-up, and internet services.

Gavin Dent, chief executive officer of QuoVadis Services, said: “We provided The Centre of Philanthropy with our technical innovation and expertise to ensure the peace of mind that their computer systems and private data are properly cared for in a secure and robust IT environment.”

QuoVadis owns and operates a Tier-3 data-centre in Bermuda and was a pioneer in introducing cloud computing services for both local and international companies on the island.

QuoVadis partnered with LinkBermuda to connect The Centre’s office with the QuoVadis primary data-centre in Hamilton and QuoVadis remote back-up services located in the LinkBermuda data-centre in Devonshire.

Edgar Dill, country manager for LinkBermuda, said: “Recognising the fast-growing needs of Bermuda’s charitable sector, we were delighted to be able to offer The Centre of Philanthropy the essential telecoms required for their new cloud-based computing and back-up solution.”
