Lawyers speak at regulatory conference

Appleby partner John Wasty

Two partners in law firm Appleby have featured as speakers at a major conference on regulation and compliance.

Tonesan Amissah, partner and member of Appleby’s corporate practice group, was a member of a panel discussion yesterday on women in asset management and regulation, part of the Women in Asset Management and Regulation Summit, run in conjunction with the main Regulatory Compliance Association conference.

John Wasty, partner and head of dispute resolution, will be senior fellow for a session on offshore jurisdictions and emerging legal and regulatory challenges and opportunities tomorrow.

The panel, which will also include Ms Amissah, will discuss the potential impact of Donald Trump’s presidency in the US and Britain’s decision to leave the EU on international finance centres, as well as matters like disclosure requests by investors and cross-border co-operation between regulators and courts.

The conference, at the Fairmont Southampton, started on Wednesday and ends tomorrow.
