Seven Bermudian students have been rewarded with a legal education award from Conyers Dill & Pearman.

This award is given annually to students who want to pursue a legal career and is normally given to between two and four students each year. But the firm increased the number of recipients this year due to the calibre of applications it received.

David Astwood, director, said: “We congratulate this year’s recipients, It is gratifying to increase the number of awardees and to contribute to the success of a growing number of Bermudians studying law overseas.”

The bursary winners were Hailey Edwards, Rachel Tucker, Amber Farrington, Mathew Nester, Ashley Bento, Ligaya Sanchez-Wilson and Robyn Meredith.

The law firm said investing in the future is the core of its vision. In addition to the legal education award it provides leading work placement programmes for students and graduates.

Fifteen Bermudian students were enrolled in the summer law programme.

The firm said its programmes are designed to support the personal and professional development of law students.

Lisa Spencer-Arscott, head of human resources, said: “We are proud to continue to recognise such exceptional talent.

“Conyers is committed to enriching the legal community in Bermuda in the long-term and recognises the importance of creating hands-on experiences for students that will have a direct impact on their future.”
