Butterfield Bank shares rose 4.4 per cent in Bermuda Stock Exchange trading.

The bank’s shares gained $1.50 to close on $35.50 as 800 shares changed hands.

Butterfield was the only stock to trade on the BSX.

In New York, Butterfield’s US-listed shares fell 43 cents, or 1.24 per cent, to close on $34.35.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index gained 67.46 points, or 3.22 per cent, to close on 2,164.29.

The BSX Insurance Index fell 23.47 points, or 1.53 per cent, to close on 1,506.48.
