Clarien Bank Ltd has appointed Wanda Mwaura, an experienced financial services professional, to its board of directors, effective immediately. Ian Truran, Clarien’s chief executive officer, said: “We are delighted to welcome Wanda, a highly respected and knowledgeable leader in the financial services industry, to the board. Clarien will benefit immensely from her decades of experience in the regulatory, insurance and accounting space and look forward to her stepping into this new role at this pivotal time of change and growth for Clarien.” Ms Mwaura was previously a partner at Ernst & Young Ltd Bermuda until September 2013 and served as chief accounting officer at PartnerRe until July 2019. She has more than 24 years’ experience in the financial-services industry. She is the sole proprietor of Consult.bm, providing director services to various entities. She was recently appointed as a non-executive director on the board and chair of the audit committee of a global public company, International General Insurance Holdings Ltd. She also serves as acting executive director for the Bermuda Public Accountability Board.Ms Mwaura has participated in numerous other boards and committees during her career, and has gained extensive experience contributing and reporting to boards and audit committees in an audit and advisory capacity at EY. She holds a bachelor of commerce degree from Dalhousie University, Halifax and Ms Mwaura is also a qualified accountant having successfully completed both the US and Canadian exams. She holds the CPA, CA designation and is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Bermuda.
