Woman denies racially abusing Indian man

A St David’s woman has denied racially-motivated abuse and threatening behaviour against an Indian man.

This morning, Magistrates’ Court heard that Ciara Martin, 25, made the alleged comments to Norberto Fernandes during a dispute on Chapel Lane, St George’s.

Ms Martin is alleged to have told him: “You ... Indian b******, get the f*** out of my island or I’ll get some people to beat you up.”

The defendant, from Tommy Fox Road, pleaded not guilty to the charge, as well as a second charge of pushing a gate back and forth in a threatening manner.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo set a trial date for June 10, releasing Ms Martin on $2,000 bail and ordering her to have no contact with Mr Fernandes.
