Firearm offence heard in court

A 23-year-old Warwick man appeared before Magistrates’ Court this morning charged with having a firearm.

Quincy Simmons stands accused of possessing a firearm on May 29 last year, and handling a firearm on an unknown date between July 7, 2010, and May 29, 2015.

Mr Simmons was not required to enter a plea as the matter must be heard by the Supreme Court.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo released Mr Simmons on $10,000 bail with a like surety, ordering that he attend the Hamilton Police Station twice a week. The matter is set to appear before the Supreme Court on October 3.
