Probation for man who assaulted police

A Devonshire man has been sentenced to probation for assaulting police in an incident this summer.

Tyneko Trott, 29, pleaded guilty to two counts of assaulting police officers and one count of violently resisting arrest during an altercation at the Coconut Rock on June 8.

While Trott admitted the offences, he had told the court he had no recollection of the incident, and that it took place shortly after he was released from the hospital for a medical issue.

Returning to court yesterday, magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo sentenced Trott to a 12 month period of probation with several conditions, including that Trott refrain from the use of drugs and alcohol.
