Devonshire man denies wounding sister

A Devonshire man denied wounding his own sister when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court this morning.

James Fray, 40, pleaded not guilty to a charge of wounding Jimmieta Fray in an incident on October 23.

The court heard that the defendant and the complainant in the case were siblings.

According to police reports regarding the incident, the victim was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment of a laceration to her arm in the wake of the altercation.

Magistrate Archibald Warner released Mr Fray on $5,000 bail with a like surety, ordering that he avoid contact with the complainant.

The matter is expected to return to court to be mentioned next month, with the trial scheduled to take place in February.
