Man sentenced to prison for making threats

A St David’s man who threatened to shoot CableVision staff has been sentenced to 30 days’ imprisonment.

Appearing in Magistrate’s Court this morning, Denton Santucci admitted two counts of using threatening words in a public place, namely CableVision in Washington Mall, on December 13.

According to prosecutor Larrissa Burgess, the 39-year-old told employees in front of customers, “somebody better give me my f***** money right now or I will get my gun and come back and shoot everybody”.

Two hours later, at about 11.30am, he returned and told staff: “F*** off and when I come back I’m going to have my f***** gun.”

Ms Burgess said he later admitted “making off” during a police interview but denied having a gun.

In court today, Santucci insisted he had never threatened to shoot the employees. He claimed he worked for CableVision but did not get paid.

Asked by magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo if he maintained his guilty plea despite insisting he did not threaten the staff members with a gun, Santucci replied: “Just do what you got to do”.

Mr Tokunbo, who said the offences could not be taken lightly given the seriousness of the threat and the current climate, sentenced Santucci to 30 days in prison on each count to run concurrently.
