Man fined for stealing cash out of bus

A former bus driver who admitted taking cash from the vehicle’s vault has been fined $300 for the offence.

Pedro Goddard, 42, pleaded guilty last month to both stealing cash and having an object, specifically a metal bar, for the purposes of burglary.

The court had heard that management at the Public Transportation Board received information last year that Goddard was seen on CCTV removing money from the vehicle’s vault while driving the vehicle in Dockyard.

Goddard was subsequently summoned to PTB headquarters, where he was questioned about the footage. He admitted taking the money, and later confessed that he had been taking cash from the bus vaults for about three months.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo fined Goddard $150 for each of the two offences — a total fine of $300.
