Hamilton Parish man charged with child abuse

A Hamilton Parish man has been charged with wilfully mistreating a child.

The 33-year-old was also accused in Magistrates’ Court of assaulting the child and causing bodily harm.

The offences allegedly happened in Devonshire on July 2.

The man, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, appeared in court last Friday. He was not required to enter pleas because the charges must be heard in Supreme Court.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo adjourned the case to the December arraignments session and released the defendant on $5,000 bail.
