Conditional discharge for flasher

A 70-year-old St George’s man was given a conditional discharge this morning for indecent exposure.

Leslie Brookes pled guilty to exposing his penis to a female at Cooper’s Island, St George’s, at about 4pm on February 23 this year but said he did not remember committing the act.

Brookes told the him: “I don’t remember it, I’ve never done anything like it in my life.”

The court heard how the complainant witnessed the man grabbing his penis which was partially erect. She said to a companion: “Oh my god, let’s go”.

The complainant called the police and left in her car. She soon saw the police car arriving and pointed the officer in Brookes’ direction saying he was the perpetrator.

On being arrested, Brookes told an officer: “OK, I know you are just doing you job.”

In an earlier sitting, Brookes had denied exposing himself but during today’s plea court session, he changed his plea to guilty.
