Sex accused gets more time to prepare defence

A 61-year-old man accused of a sex assault on a 20-year-old woman was given three more weeks to prepare his defence.

The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was ordered yesterday in Magistrates’ Court to return to court on June 24. The defendant, from Sandys, pleaded not guilty on May 9 to two charges on intruding on the woman and one charge of sex assault.

The incidents are alleged to have happened in Sandys on August 22 last year.

Magistrate Tyrone Chin continued the man’s bail at $5,000.
