Motorcyclist was nearly three times alcohol limit

A man who was stopped by police early yesterday was almost three times the legal alcohol limit.Lyndon Woods, 40, pleaded guilty to drink-driving when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court.The court heard that police officers saw Woods, of no known address, leave the Bistro at the Beach on Front Street, Hamilton.The officers followed Woods as he rode down Front Street at a high speed.Officers pulled him over after they saw him swerve across the centre line and arrested him on suspicion of drink-driving.Woods was taken to Hamilton Police Station and breath-tested.The test showed that Woods had 227 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80mg/100ml.Magistrate Tyrone Chin fined Woods $1,500 and ordered him to pay by January 14.He also banned him from the roads for 18 months.• It is The Royal Gazette’s policy not to allow comments on stories regarding court cases.
